Here’s what research suggests is the average Australian PC:

• Windows XP

• 1GB RAM

• Older Intel processor

• ADSL1 (1.5Mbps)

• Browser: IE7

• 1024x768 native resolution

Here’s what (anecdotal) evidence suggests is the average Australian web designer’s PC

• Brand new, top of the range Mac Pro

• 4GB RAM

• Gigabit LAN connection

• Safari 4

• Multiple large monitors at 1680x1050 or higher

See the problem? That’s why we built a PC according to the average Australian PC specs, painted it bright red and called it THE REALITY MACHINE (imagine this read out in a booming voice with dramatic music, and possibly a thunderclap).

We use this to test the sites we build and make sure they work nicely for the average Australian PC user.

Go go gadget empathy!
